Brando Yelvich

                                                             Brando Yelvich

Probably the best day of school was the Monday Brando came to our school and talked about his journey around the coast of NZ. He also talked about how to showed resilient.  In one part of his journey his goal was to take one step and his next goal was to take another one and another and so on and on. Brando has inspired so many people.  He even inspired me.

Brando also has ADHD and that means, you literally think of everything and anything, for example a door handle, how does it work?, what is it made out of?, what's inside?, what's on the other side of the wall?, etc. Brando had to take pills when he was four and had to continue until nineteen years old.

Brando is now going to schools and talking to students and motivating them to show resilience.

                                          Inter school triathlon

The horn blew and the race started. We were off like a herd of Caribou, faster than the wind, around the corner and towards the goalpost.
My heart was racing 1 million miles an hour. I could hear Hokowhitu screaming GO MILA!!!!! I ran faster. I got the stitch, so I ran with my arms in the air.
After 2 minutes
of running with my arms in the air my stitch was gone and I could think about winning. I hopped on my bike and started peddling. I passed about 10 people on the bike ride because I had a road bike and then 2 people in the pool. I did one full length of the pool without passing any one and without any one passing me. I finished in 9th place. Afterwards I got an ice cream and headed back to school.
That was an exiting day.

Science

In science today we looked at developing strong structures. We used blu tack, tooth picks and a piece of cardboard to create a platform to hold counters. Some people arranged their tooth picks in triangle shapes to try and create a strong base.

Worm Farm

Cleaning out the scrap buckets. Every Friday members of the Green Team collect all the scrap buckets, empty them into the worm farm and clean them out.

Inter-school swimming

Interschool swimming was a blast!
Hokowhitu school came forth and I even bet my personal best time.
It was also boring at the same time cause for nearly the whole day you would sit, well in my case.
When it was my turn, I jumped out of my seat and ran down to the pool even though I nearly slipped I came fourth in the relay too!

Interschools swimming

Inter schools swimming was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had never won anything before so I felt better than the best I've EVER felt. At Freyberg pool, the atmosphere was all competitive. When I stepped onto the diving board I suddenly felt a surge of fear and then, as I dived the world went black and  my eyes closed for the impact and when I surfaced to breathe the race was on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
