Term 1 Review
Reece has had 15 years primary teaching experience. During this time, he has taught children from Year 5-8. Reece is passionate about creating learning environments where students are active participants. He sees science and the Nature of Science to be a great motivator to support the teaching and engagement of students within Literacy and Mathematics. Reece’s placement will involve him participating in the general research and activities conducted by Landcare Research in Palmerston North. The programme will include opportunities to work with staff on their projects involving terrestrial ecosystem science, help set up and carry out field trials, analyse data and attending seminars in which scientist present their work and findings. On completion of his placement, Reece aims to have a firm foundation of knowledge and understanding of the Nature of Science in which he can take back to his school. The Science Teaching Leadership Program will also increase his leadership capabilities so that he can extend his knowledge and passion of science across Hokowhitu School.
